Description
Memorizing the flow of blood in the heart doesn’t have to be boring. Liven it up by having students order the blood flow through the heart steps on their own. Students will put color-coded strips in order each representing a different part of the heart. Students will work in groups and receive an envelope with various color strips of paper. Pink strips represent the chambers, green strips represent the valves, yellow strips represent the blood vessels, blue cards represent oxygenated blood and red cards represent. Students should also use the flow of blood through the heart diagram to help them visualize the process. Teachers can differentiate by giving students a labeled or unlabeled heart diagram and having students label next to the blood flow order whether it is deoxygenated or oxygenated.
